CAESAREA: Herod’s Dream City

Caesarea was the apple of Herod’s eye. A huge harbor, the largest in the Roman world after the harbor of Rome, theaters, hippodrome, baths, and palaces. Above all stands the amazing palace of Herod himself, on a peninsula jutting into the water. For more than six hundred years, Caesarea was the capital of the country, then it became a strong Crusader stronghold and finally a small village of Bosnians who were brought here from the steppes of southern Russia. To date, only a handful of the remains of this vast city have been discovered, but even what is visible is spectacular and awe-inspiring.

Join Dov Friedman, author of the book “Agrippa and his sons” and Yadin Roman, Publisher and Editor in Chief of the ERETZ Group, for a fascinating tour.
